Abu Dhabi-based Tablez Food Company, the F&B division of retail conglomerate Lulu Group, has launched the American Brasserie Sugar Factory in the UAE.

It’s Sugar Factory’s first overseas foray outside the US. Its Dubai Festival City store spread across 7,265 sqft features a selection of the brand’s signature treats and merchandise, including the world-famous Couture Pops. Synonymous with the Sugar Factory brand, Couture Pops have become a phenomenon and have made confectionaries a celebrity accessory in the US.

“The UAE has one of the fastest growing economies in the world and ranked highest in MENA on the Global Retail Development Index. The consumer food service industry in the UAE is estimated to have been AED53 billion in 2014 and expected to grow at 9% annually to reach AED75 billion by 2018, with an increase in tourist spend being the largest contributor to this growth,” quotes Shafeena Yusuff Ali, CEO, Tablez Food Group while commenting on partnership with Sugar Factory that joins other iconic brands like Famous Dave’s, Galito’s, Peppermill and Bloomsbury’s belonging to the Tablez Food Company.

“Population growth, increasing income per capita and a booming tourism industry are the main drivers of food consumption in the GCC region, while food is currently the largest segment of consumer expenditure in the entire region,” she adds.

“We are particularly thrilled to set foot on the UAE shores, as our premier international destination out of the US and join hands with Tablez Food Company,” says Steve Davidovici, director of Sugar Factory, America. “Dubai is a vast amalgamation of a multi-cuisine food culture and is known for showcasing the best of the best. Being part of this ever growing huge conglomerate will enhance the brand’s popularity and give diners that unique experience synonymous with our brand’s concept.”
