The Mall at WTCAD gives back to community

Abu Dhabi-based developer Aldar’s The Mall at World Trade Center (The Mall at WTCAD) is launching its Back To School campaign with a book collection and charity sale. In addition, there will be special book readings and a spectacular Spend & Win competition to win AED25,000 in school tuition fees.

Bringing back its popular Spend & Win competition, The Mall at WTCAD is helping one lucky set of parents go back to school for free. Anyone who spends AED200 at The Mall at WTCAD between August 19 and September 8 can enter to win the remarkable prize of having their children’s 2018-19 school tuition fees paid, worth up to a staggering AED25,000.

Partnering with literacy charity “Wanna Read” from August 7 to September 4, The Mall at WTCAD will place themed collection boxes around the mall to start their annual charity book drive, encouraging visitors to give the gift of giving and sharing by asking them to donate their favourite books. These books will then be sold for charity in The Mall at WTCAD’s Book Fair from September 6-8.

Last year the Book Fair was exceptionally popular, with over 2,000 collected books being sold in two hours alone. This year, besides selling the collected books, the Book Fair will also include exclusive book readings from award-winning children’s author Dr. Michele Ziolkowski, whose book ‘The Boy Who Knew the Mountains’ was inspired by her son.

As part of The Mall at WTCAD’s continual corporate social responsibility, all proceeds from the book sale will go to “Wanna Read”, who will use the funds to operate their 16 reading rooms for children in hospitals across the UAE. The charity, led by HH Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, uses art and book readings to brighten up the days of children spending time in hospital.

“At The Mall at WTCAD we are committed on creating unique experiences that appeal to our local community, that not only enriches peoples’ lives but also enriches downtown Abu Dhabi. Incorporating our charity book fair, children’s readings by celebrity author Dr. Michele Ziolkowski, and our amazing Spend & Win competition, our Back to School campaign tick all the boxes for an appealing, interactive event,” says Yasser Al Marzouqi, general manager, The Mall at WTCAD.
