UAE is a hub of excellence

Florencia Beschtedt

“The UAE has shifted from merely adopting foreign ideas to innovating and exporting concepts. Residents, both locals and expats in Dubai, take immense pride in and support this evolution, making the region an attractive hub for establishing new concepts. This trend has also attracted worldwide talents, who aspire to launch their own ventures here” – Florencia Beschtedt, F&B Director, LDC Kitchen + Coffee

Asked to sum up the homegrown F&B segment in one word, Beschtedt said its “thriving.” According to her, the recognition of local talent and creativity has propelled the region onto the international stage, fostering aspirations and developments. That’s why, so many local brands are now making waves among global giants; LDC Kitchen + Coffee is a great example.

Moreover, the introduction of globally recognised entities such as the 50 Best Restaurants/ Bars of the World, Michelin Guide and Gault & Millau has provided a platform for homegrown concepts that prioritise local produce, ethical sourcing, product quality and community engagement.

LDC Kitchen + Coffee at a glance:

  • Dubai-based homegrown neighbourhood café.
  • Currently, 5 branches in Dubai.

Moving over to a transformation that has reshaped the homegrown F&B landscape, Beschtedt believes talent is a big one.

“In the wake of events like the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ukraine war and economic and political shifts in Europe, the UAE has emerged as an epicentre for excellent, young and motivated F&B talent. Whether setting up their own ventures or joining already established restaurants, these individuals are making their mark.”

At this point, turning focus to LDC Kitchen + Coffee, Beschtedt shared that the brand is planning to get into more communities, business districts and other emirates in 2025.

“We have plans to open 10 more stores within the next year and continue creating a menu that is both product and guest focused. Our primary focus remains on delivering exceptional quality products and collaborating with well-known local talents, like we did with Hattem Mattar and Nadia Parekh. We have some exciting surprises in store to ensure our loyal clientele continues to enjoy the best of what the UAE has to offer,” she concluded.
