Uber Eats enhances delivery experience with Apple Pay

April 24, 2019 | By RetailME Bureau

Uber Eats – the online food ordering and delivery platform launched by ride hailing app Uber – has enhanced its delivery experience by bringing Apple Pay to its platform. Users can now pay for their order faster, more conveniently and securely.

Apple Pay will be rolling out to customers using Uber Eats in nearly 20 markets in the coming weeks. The markets include Belgium, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the Netherlands, the UAE, the UK and the US.

Riders already know that paying in apps with Apple Pay is as simple as a glance with Face ID or the touch of a finger with Touch ID on iPhone and other Apple devices. There is no need to manually fill out lengthy account forms or type in billing information.

Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. The credit or debit card details – the actual card numbers – used on Apple Pay are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on the user’s device. Each transaction is authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code.
