Urban retrEAT is now open in Yas Mall

Urban retrEAT, an Abu Dhabi-based food incubator founded by local foodpreneur Dana Alsharif, is now open for business in Yas Mall. It is located on the ground floor of the shopping mall, opposite Ferrari world. The venue is a first-of-its-kind in Abu Dhabi to bring together local food vendors from across the UAE in a fun and quirky space within Yas Mall.

Diners will be brought on a culinary journey taking them from the streets of Venezuela, to a plaza in Italy, to a back alley in Dubai and to a village in Lebanon. Urban retrEAT houses twelve food vendors, which will rotate every three months. The first twelve vendors include Mr. Brisket, Off the Hook, Casa Latina, Tawa Bakery, Firefly Burger, Piddza, Chez Moe Café, Roll-Ups by Sukkar Dose, Bubble Waffles by Sukkar Dose, Hue Artisan Pasta, Fatteh O Salata and Casa De Churros.

Urban RetrEAT founder Alsharif’s journey as a foodpreneur began with Calle Tacos, one of Dubai’s first food truck concepts. Alsharif wanted to create Urban retrEAT as a community to support home-grown talent and give them a platform to boost their business, creating and setting trends in the Middle East’s food scene.

“We’re developing a space that can act as a hub for the local community and a platform for home-grown food vendors,” Alsharif states. “The constant rotating of vendors offers an ever-changing experience for diners, catering to all tastes and palates. We are creating a space that’s fun, social and unpretentious and bring something totally different to the Abu Dhabi food scene.”

Besides the rotating food concepts, the venue will also host local talents such as musicians and artists, offering them a platform to showcase their work and perform for customers within Urban retrEAT. Every weekend a different musician will take the stage, keeping guests entertained as well as fed.
