Walmart has launched a new mobile payment app Walmart Pay at its 4,600 stores across the US, offering consumers a safe, easy and convenient check out using their smartphones.

Walmart Pay, available through the Walmart app, works on any iOS or Android device at any checkout lane. Customers can pay through any credit, debit, pre-paid or Walmart gift card.

The Walmart App doesn’t require payment details to be stored on customers’ smartphones. In addition, no payment detail is exchanged at the checkout, rendering the application highly secured.

“There is something very powerful about the ease and simplicity of Walmart Pay. What’s even more powerful though, is what this means for our customers. We want to make every day easier for busy families. We’re connecting all the parts of Walmart into one seamless shopping experience with great stores, easy pickup, fast delivery, frictionless checkout and apps and websites that are simple to use,” says Daniel Eckert, senior vice president, services, Walmart US.

According to a Walmart infographic, Walmart Pay has received five-star rating from three out of four customers, while four out of five would recommend using it. Walmart Pay is currently one of the most powerful additions to the Walmart app, which has reportedly seen 45% increase in transactions made using the app since its launch on July 6. Moreover, around 88% of the transactions are made by repeat Walmart Pay users.
