The WEQAYA Food Programme was recently launched at the Lulu Hypermarket in The Mall at World Trade Centre (The Mall at WTCAD) in Abu Dhabi. The event saw a memorandum of understanding (MOU) being signed between Lulu Group International and the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, introducing the WEQAYA Food Programme.
As part of the WEQAYA Food Programme, Lulu Hypermarket will stock and promote WEQAYA approved food products. The agreement is currently exclusive to Lulu Hypermarket in The Mall at WTCAD.
The event welcomed Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mohamed Al Hamed, chairman of the Department of Health in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Yusuffali MA, managing director, Lulu Group International, along with other dignitaries.
The WEQAYA Food Programme was developed in close collaboration with Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) and Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, as per internationally approved standards. Healthy foods carrying the WEQAYA logo must conform to certain criteria. For example, food products have to be rich in minerals and vitamins, low in fat, low in salt and rich in fibre.
