We’ve had to evolve fast, adopt technology and digitisation: Alisha Moopen

“With evolving customer preference to access healthcare from their own place of comfort and the need to maintain a control on their own health we’ve had to evolve fast, adopt technology and digitisation to meet the growing needs,” said Alisha Moopen, Deputy Managing Director, Aster DM Healthcare.

As a result, Digital Health became an important focus area for Aster DM Heathcare and the company recently introduced the myAster app, an integrated omnichannel experience of services for patients.

“Through myAster app we offer users seamless access to our healthcare ecosystem in the UAE. Our aim is to provide an innovative single point access to a comprehensive range of healthcare services for the ease of our patients,” Moopen explained.

Offering users “seamless access” to Aster’s entire healthcare ecosystem in the UAE was a huge learning curve for the Aster DM Healthcare team and Moopen who leads the company’s operations in India and GCC comprising 30 hospitals, 121 clinics, 459 pharmacies, 19 labs and 140 patient experience centres in 7 countries.

That’s not all. In addition to offering an omnichannel healthcare experience, Moopen highlighted how the company is focused on supporting people to develop a healthy lifestyle and embark on a wellness journey.

“We’ve launched ‘Wellth’, a hub of integrative medicine in the country to encourage people to lead healthier lives and alleviate chronic lifestyle diseases. Wellth is a world-class, state-of-the-art wellness centre for integrated and functional medicine, and we’ve partnered with renowned experts such as Dr Deepak Chopra, pioneer of integrated medicine and Dr Frank Lipman, renowned global expert in functional medicine to offer result-oriented wellness products and services.”

As someone who is shaping the future of Aster DM Healthcare focused on sustainable business with asset-light model, technology and digitisation being the core USPs, asked how important it is to have a people-and-innovation-first mindset Moopen said its crucial.

“If each person believed it was their own company, and it is their responsibility to make this a success, the typical success rate plus the fulfilment from a job will be much higher. I strongly believe in this theory because as an entrepreneur I’ve failed many times when my heart was not into something. Of course, there have been times when I’ve failed due to external circumstances. With my role at Aster, I believe I found that sweet spot between doing what I love, doing something I’m good at and doing something the universe needs. For me, that’s the key to personal, professional and societal success. And that’s the kind of opportunity I try to mindfully offer to our people.”
