Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island welcomed a record number of staycationers and tourists during Eid-Al-Fitr this year as they enjoyed their holiday at the Island’s diverse mix of leisure, entertainment and shopping experiences.

Over Eid Al Fitr this year, attendance at the theme parks doubled in number compared to Eid of last year, with a 100% occupancy at the island’s seven hotels. Similarly, the 24-Hour Mega Sale, triple-car giveaway and tax-free shopping promotion, saw the Yas Mall record double-digit sales increase across participating stores.

“It is great to see this phenomenal increase in visitations and success on Yas Island during Eid, which is a testament to its continuous growth and position as one of the top global destinations. We work alongside our partners in evolving our unique offerings and immersive experiences, creating a range of diverse activities for our visitors to enjoy during Eid and beyond,” said Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, CEO, Miral.

“We were delighted to work with our strategic partners, Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and Miral, making this Eid campaign a success. Initiatives like this greatly bolster the experience and offering we provide both residents and visitors to Abu Dhabi. We are committed to playing a strong role in Yas Island’s integrated effort to bring all elements of shop, stay, play together, in one amazing destination,” added Saoud Khoory, director of Shopping Malls, Aldar Properties. “We are happy to report that many of our retailers confirmed record-breaking sales and traffic during the hugely-popular 24-Hour Mega Sale event which fell on the second day of Eid, and is now running for its third successful year. This year’s sale gave shoppers even more innovative benefits, as Yas Mall launched a mall-wide tax-free shopping day, which added even greater value on top of already superb offers.”

The Yas Gaming Festival, which continued through June 15, also entertained thousands with experiences featuring virtual reality, retro games, a showcase of the latest video games, cosplay and tournaments.
